Former House of Assembly candidate and a leader of ADC, Ikwuano LG chapter, Hon Philip-D Iroegbulam on Sunday says the party will resist any attempt to destabilise it's structures, rebrand old political structures into ADC, tamper with the Ikwuano Coalition for selfish ends, or undermine the trust of its members.
In a press statement titled "Hands Off Our Party: Ikwuano ADC Stands United" Iroegbulam who described himself as Key Stakeholder in the Ikwuano Coalition declared that "the finely reconstituted and duly recognised Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ikwuano Local Government Area remains intact, legitimate, and fully committed to the service of our people.
"We have observed, with grave concern, the moves by certain old politicians, working in alliance with compromised elements, to hijack our party structure in Ikwuano and smuggle in their outdated political machinery under the guise of a name change. Such underhand tactics are unacceptable, undemocratic, and a direct assault on the collective will of our grassroots members.
"For the avoidance of doubt, our coalition in Ikwuano is local based. It is not compulsory that we align with any federal coalition configuration. Should there be any attempt to tamper with the ADC structure in Ikwuano, we shall not hesitate to move our coalition to another political party that respects our autonomy and grassroots mandate.
"It must also be noted that in the past fourteen (14) years, no ruling party has been able to win a clear election in Ikwuano. This fact underscores the strategic weight and undeniable importance of our coalition in determining political outcomes in this LGA. Our voice and our structure matter, and they will not be silenced or undermined".
He further added that the Ikwuano ADC stand firmly with the Abia State Chairman of ADC, Don Norman Obinna and remain committed to strengthening the party in Ikwuano. "However, we will resist any attempt to destabilise our structures, rebrand old political structures into ADC, tamper with our coalition for selfish ends, or undermine the trust of our members.
"At the same time, I extend an open invitation to every progressive minded individual, group, and stakeholder who wishes to join our coalition in Ikwuano. We are willing and ready to welcome you, work with you, and build together a political platform that truly serves the interests of our people.
"To the political hijackers, my message is clear: Ikwuano ADC is not for sale, not for rent, and not for hijacking", he affirmed
