The Ibere Unity Carnival Fiesta Season 1 was programmed as a youths fiesta of fun and fanfare, but at the end of the day it became a turning point for fourteen (14) youths who were awarded four years University scholarships.

"I wanted a platform to tickle the imagination of our youths and the upcoming ones, to let them realise that all they need to thrive is inside them", says Hon Osinachi Nwaka, the Director-General, Ministry of Finance Incorporated who sponsored  of the carnival Nwaka, former Mayor of Ikwuano LGA added that ideally the fiesta would have been hosted for all Ikwuano youths, decided to hold a miniature version as a test run



"At the end of the day, it was a huge success, the security was top notch, there was no incident of youthful waywardness, the youths comported themselves. I was impressed by the fact that the youths themselves packaged and organised the event, my role was to fund it. It was worth the efforts", he said with satisfaction 

Following it's huge success, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Hon Cookey Nwachukwu said this maiden outing is now titled as Ibere Unity Carnival Fiesta, Season 1, noting that it will henceforth become an annual event  to further strengthen communal bonds and showcase Ibere’s unique  rich cultural heritage



Amongst dignitaries who graced  the kaleidoscopic entertainment of modern and traditional musical performances include the human rights advocate and constitutional lawyer,  Dr  Monday Ubani, SAN and his beautiful wife; the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Hon Obi Aguocha and several others

Both Ubani and Aguocha also made mouth watering donation and promises to the youths association of the community

 


For  Ibere community, it was also a homecoming of sorts for their son, Pascal Atuma, an actor, screen writer and entertainment entrepreneur who awarded the 14 University scholarships to Ibere sons and daughters. 

Another media practitioner from the community who graced the event is Grace D, an On Air Personality, OAP who practises her art at Rapid 96.5 FM

Highlights of the carnival included vibrant cultural dances, indigenous music, and award presentations and recognition of Ibere fallen heroes and living icons who have contributed to contributed towards the development of the community.

Entertainment personalities who featured at the event include Khenyzee; Exnel Nwa Aba; MC Don Wise, a comedian; MC Imbecile; MC Yaro and several others

Two new discoveries at the carnival include Lil Young, an upcoming hip-hop artiste and Sand Boy, while Miss Ibere and Mr Ibere who were crowned at the carnival went home with mouth watering prizes

A day after the event, Organizing Committee, led by its chairman Hon. Nwachukwu, Abba Joshua, and others paid a courtesy visit  to Hon Osinachi  Nwaka at his residence.  During the meeting, Hon. Osinachi praised the committee for its effective coordination, noting clear evidence that the resources invested in the carnival were judiciously utilized.

He further expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the carnival and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the youths of Ibere and encouraged them to pursue excellence, confidently showcase their talents, and strive to make the community proud. He also urged them to avoid any behaviour capable of bringing embarrassment to the community, stressing the importance of discipline and responsibility.
