Amidst evolving political dynamics within the nation, foremost senatorial hopeful of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Chief Chukwuma Nnochiri has issued a clarion call to all members of the ADC, urging them to prioritize internal cohesion and strategic unity.
Speaking at a high-level consultative meeting with party stakeholders, Chief Nnochiri who is aspiring to represent Abia Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly, emphasized that the ADC must transcend internal divisions to fulfill its mandate as a viable opposition party capable of providing a credible alternative to the current administration.
Chief Nnochiri noted that the strength of any political organization lies in its ability to speak with a single, resonant voice. Addressing the various factions and administrative friction points, he cautioned that "fragmentation is a luxury we cannot afford" in the current political climate.
"A political party is more than a platform for individual ambition; it is a sacred trust held for the people," Nnochiri stated. "To be the vanguard of democracy, we must first demonstrate that we can govern ourselves. Unity is not merely a preference—it is our primary survival strategy."
Nnochiri further articulated his vision for the ADC, transitioning it from a peripheral player to a robust "government-in-waiting." He argued that a viable opposition must move beyond reactionary politics and focus on presenting well-researched, alternative solutions to national challenges in the economy, security, and infrastructure.
"And ensuring all party organs communicate a consistent and constructive vision to the electorate, and acting as a vigilant watchdog that holds the ruling party to the highest standards of transparency and service delivery"
Nnochiri concluded by charging party leaders to return to their wards and local governments to re-engage with the citizenry. He stressed that a viable opposition is built from the bottom up, not the top down.
"We do not seek power for the sake of power," he concluded. "We seek to build a platform so united and so prepared that the Nigerian people see in the ADC the clear path to a more prosperous and equitable future."
