Engr Churchill C Ekedo

The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU has appointed Engr. Churchill C. Ekedo as the acting Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the institution.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, is aimed at strengthening the university’s security framework and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the campus community.

Stakeholders and residents of the University community in reaction to the appointment have heaved a sigh of relieve, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver effectively in his new role. Dailyledger.com.ng reports University community sources who described the appointment as placing a round peg in a round hole. "Engr Ekedo has formerly acted in the same capacity and comes highly recommended for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to safety and security issues", the sources say.

There are expectations that he will bring to bear his usual style of excellence, discipline, experience and a strategic approach to the institution's security management and safety space

Ekedo is expected to work closely with relevant security agencies to enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response mechanisms within the university and nearby communities 

The development comes as Abia State Government drives efforts to bolster internal security systems and maintain a stable secure environment.

The university management has urged staff and students to cooperate with the new CSO to achieve a secure and conducive atmosphere for academic activities.
