The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in commemoration of this year’s Christian Easter celebration.
In a statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who extended warm congratulations to Christians across the Country and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter urged Nigerians to embrace the core virtues symbolized by Easter, including selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. He further urged citizens to uphold national values such as tolerance and unity, emphasizing their importance in strengthening the country’s social fabric.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national development, Tunji-Ojo stated that ongoing policy decisions are aimed at fostering economic growth, national renewal, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, who on behalf of the minister wished Christians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
