The Publicity Secretary of Abia chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Uche Aguoru on Wednesday told newsmen that the party's House of Assembly primary held in 24 constituencies for 64 aspirants was peaceful though marred by over-voting in several wards.

"It's unimaginable that a ward with about 400 members is delivering a result with 1,000 delegates. The APC is  interested in a transparent process and will not tolerate such issues", Aguoru during the interaction session with newsmen at Abia APC Secretariat off Azikiwe Road, Umuahia

Chief Aguoru however added that the party is monitoring the process even as collation of results from the primary continues.

He advised aspirants  to submit petitions of their misgivings and grievances to the Party secretariat and confirmed that House of Assembly Appeals Panel would be set up on Thursday, May 21, 2027

He further  added that collations would be completed tonight, he was not forthcoming when results from the primary would be announced.

Our reporter who monitored the primary in Ikwuano State Constituency confirmed incidents of double voting and inflated figures from certain wards. Cases of intimidation and harassment was also dished out to delegates by certain Party official from certain wards who also  forbids anybody from acting as agent to one of the aspirants

As at time of filing this report, APC secretariat in Umuahia is besieged by aspirants and other party stakeholders, including former House of Representatives member, Hon Sam Onuigbo who was sighted moving from office to office.
