In a statement issued on Tuesday and by the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and Mr Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the NDC said the sale of Expression of Interest forms will run from Wednesday, May 13 to Monday, May 18, 2026.
Aspirants will be screened and interviewed from Tuesday, May 19 May to Thursday, May 21 to determine their eligibility to purchase nomination forms.
The party urged aspirants to attend the screening exercise with the relevant credentials and supporting documents.
Nomination forms will go on sale immediately after the screening, from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23, while completed forms must be returned by Monday, May 25
Appeals arising from the screening process will be heard on 2 May 25-26, while primary elections are scheduled for May 27-28. The presidential primary holds on May 29 in Abuja.
Screening for State House of Assembly aspirants will be conducted in their respective States, while candidates for the National Assembly and the Presidency will be screened at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. Governorship primaries will take place at local government level.
The release States that aspirants will be required to sign an undertaking in line with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct. The NDC said it would adopt an “open secret ballot” system for its primaries to guarantee credibility, fairness and internal democracy.
The party also disclosed its approved nomination fees will remain among the lowest compared with other major political parties.
The fees are as follows:
*House of Assembly: Expression of Interest – N1m; Nomination – N1.5m
*House of Representatives: Expression of Interest – N2m; Nomination – N4m
*Senate: Expression of Interest – N3m; Nomination – N5m
*Governorship: Expression of Interest – N10m; Nomination – N20m
*Presidency: Expression of Interest – N20m; Nomination – N40m
Female aspirants will pay 50% of the applicable fees, while persons living with disability will pay 25% across all categories.
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, inclusive and democratic process that would produce competent candidates for the 2027 elections.
